Are you a farmer who would like to help grow Sumter County 4-H?

If so, please submit an application for the Monsanto Fund, “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” and designate Sumter County 4-H as the recipient. “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” sponsored by the Monsanto Company and Monsanto Fund, allows eligible farmers to register to win $2,500 for their favorite community nonprofit organization.

Farmers, age 21 and over, who are actively engaged in farming a minimum of 250 acres of corn, cotton, or soybeans, or 40 acres of open field vegetables, or at least 10 acres of tomatoes, peppers and/or cucumbers grown in protected culture are eligible.

Farmer registration for the “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” program is available until November 30, 2011.  Farmers complete a free, five minute application by visiting www.growcommunities.com or calling 1-877-267-3332 to receive a copy of the entry form by mail.

Don’t wait; register today and you may just win money to support your favorite community nonprofit organization.

If Sumter 4-H is selected as a recipient of the $2,500 donation, it can go a long way. The funds will be used in a variety of ways from providing scholarships for youths to go to camp this upcoming summer to support programming activities such as Project Achievement or Challenge Bowl.
